One Purpose

In Story of a Soul, St. Therese voices her desire to bring souls to God. That has to be the mission of anyone who loves God.

We are called to die to sin, to die to self, to live only in Christ Jesus. If we live in Him, we must give Him what He wants. And what does He want? Read St. Therese. Read St. Faustina. Read the Scriptures. Read The Imitation of Christ. What does He want? He wants souls. He hungers for souls. This is our purpose. To bring Him souls.

In all our vocations, whether we are married or single, priests, nuns, or brothers, we all have one purpose, but different ways to achieve it. As a Catholic father, I must bring Jesus the souls of my wife and children. My wife, likewise, must bring Him my souls and the souls of our children. And through prayer, a life of Christian example, and direct evangelization, we can bring to Him the souls of others we encounter in this life. This is our purpose.

Oh Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. If we live that prayer, we will bring Christ the souls He searches for.
