Yesterday was the day for Mom to take the kids to the library. Her work schedule failed to cooperate, and we decided to head there after dinner. What promised to be a chore, interrupting our evening, turned out to be a very Little Way of the Family moment, and one of our most enjoyable evenings of the week.
While the kids were choosing their allotment of books for the week, I decided to browse the DVDs. I thought that if I could find something watchable, I could avoid a spur of the moment $5 trip to Blockbuster later in the week. Sure enough, I found one. (If it is good and appropriate for this site, I will post a review after we watch it.) Meanwhile Mom found a book she probably would have purchased for $30 if she had seen it at Barnes and Noble. We all had fun and ended up laughing all the way home.
This experience reinforced something we have been learning over the past few years. Most things we do are better when we do them as a family. We not only accomplish whatever we had set out to do, but we bond as a family, create memories, and demonstrate Christ's love to those we encounter.
