What is the Little Way of the Family?

One easily digestible description of the Little Way of St. Therese can be found here http://www.romancatholicism.org/therese2.htm. But what is the Little Way of the Family? When we became interested in St. Therese (see the previous post) we started to say things like "We should live the little way in our family." Then one evening, we were feeling lazy and had an urge to just go out to dinner. Mom paused, then she turned to me and said "That's not very little way of the family." I knew instantly what she meant, and we stayed home and cooked and had a wonderful time. Over time, we analyzed more and more of our family life through that lens.
So, Little Way of the Family means trying to live out our family life in a way that will please God. It means doing the little everyday things well, in as holy a way we can, and with great love. It means avoiding the temptations of materialism, self-indulgence, gluttony, and so forth.
What else does it mean? Well, that is one of the purposes of this blog.
